Get your personal information from CoverGuard in one file, whenever you want it — no request form, no email, no waiting period. It takes one click, and the file tells you plainly what it includes and what it does not.
Who this is for
Anyone with a CoverGuard account. This is not a paid feature and never will be — it is your right to your own information, so it works the same on the free plan as on any other.
Reach for it when you want to keep your own records, move your information somewhere else, check what we actually hold about you before deciding whether to stay, or satisfy yourself that deleting your account will not lose something you wanted.
How to download it
- Go to Account → Legal & Privacy.
- Find Data Deletion Request.
- Click Download my data.
The file saves to your device as coverguard-my-data-<date>.json. Nothing is emailed, and no one at CoverGuard reviews the request — it is yours, so you simply take it.
What's in the file

It is JSON — a structured format any spreadsheet tool, script or other service can read. That is deliberate: a copy you cannot actually use somewhere else is not portability.
What's not in it, and why
The file names these itself, so you never have to guess whether something was withheld or simply never held.
- Risk scores, carrier availability and valuations. These describe an address, not you. They are calculated fresh each time anyone looks a property up, so there is no stored copy of yours to give you — and the Record itself is always there to open.
- Other people's records. If you manage clients, their details are their personal information, not yours. They have the same right to their own copy from their own account.
- Passwords, keys and card details. No CoverGuard endpoint ever returns these, including this one. Your card lives with our payment processor and never with us.
- Some product records, for now. Property notes, watchlists, saved searches and alerts, seller disclosures, saved calculator scenarios and Advisor history are not in the file yet. They are yours and you can have them — email privacy@coverguard.io and we will send them. The file says this too, so you will not be left guessing.
Good to know
- Very large accounts. If you have an unusually long history, a section may include the most recent 5,000 entries and say so in the file. If you need the rest, email privacy@coverguard.io and we will send it.
- A section may say it is unavailable. That means we could not read it, not that you have nothing there. It is rare and worth telling us about.
- Downloading changes nothing. It does not cancel, delete or pause anything. It is a copy.
- It is recorded. We log that you downloaded your data and when — never what was in it. That record is how we can show the request was honored.
If something goes wrong
The button does nothing, or shows an error. Try again in a minute. If it keeps failing, email privacy@coverguard.io with your registered email address and we will send the file ourselves within 30 days.
You downloaded several in a row and got told to wait. Building the file reads across your whole account, so there is a limit of a few downloads per hour. Wait a little and try again — the file will be identical anyway unless something changed.
You cannot open the file. Any text editor will show it. To read it as a table, most spreadsheet tools will import JSON, or paste it into any online JSON viewer.
Something you expected is missing. Check the "what's not included" note in the file first — it may be there by design. If not, email privacy@coverguard.io and say what you expected.
