See the full risk, cost-to-insure, carrier, and valuation picture for one property — without a subscription. Pay once, unlock that Record, done.
Who this is for: Home Buyers and Sellers who only need to check one or two addresses right now. Where: the Record itself (/properties/[id]). Time: ~1 min.
Why this matters
CoverGuard's full Record — insurance cost, which carriers are actively writing, and the risk-adjusted value — is normally a subscription feature. If you're evaluating a single home before you bid, a monthly plan can be more than you need. Buying one Record unlocks the full picture for that address only, for a flat one-time price, with no recurring charge.
Before you start
- You need a free CoverGuard account and to be signed in — the purchase is
tied to your account so you (and only you) can come back and see it later.
- The property must already show its details and insurability band — that
part is always free. The purchase unlocks the Record itself: each hazard scored with the evidence behind it, why the property is insurable or isn't, the modeled insurance cost, the carrier list, and the risk-adjusted value.
How to buy a Record
- Open the property's Record (search for the address, or open it from your
saved properties). See Property search if you haven't found the address yet.
- If your account doesn't already have access to the full Record, you'll see
a "Buy this Record" banner near the top, showing the current price.
- Select Buy this Record. You're taken to a secure Stripe checkout page —
CoverGuard never sees or stores your card details.
- Complete the payment. You're returned to the Record, now fully
unlocked.
What you'll see / What it means
Once payment is confirmed, the Record reloads with every section visible: cost to insure, which carriers are actively binding, and the risk-adjusted valuation — the same content a subscriber sees for that property. This access is for this one property only and doesn't expire; it stays unlocked on your account. It doesn't include the other subscription-only tools (client management, alerts, branded reports, and so on) — see Teams, seats & billing if you find yourself wanting to check properties regularly.
Every insurance and valuation figure on the Record is a modeled estimate — decision support, not a binding quote or an appraisal. Confirm final terms with a carrier before you rely on them for a purchase decision.
If your payment doesn't go through — a declined card, or you close the checkout page before finishing — nothing is charged and the Record stays locked. You'll see a short note confirming no charge was made, and you can try again any time from the same banner. If Stripe confirms your payment but the Record takes a moment to unlock, you'll see a brief "unlocking your Record" note — refresh the page if it doesn't clear within a few seconds.
Tips
- Already a subscriber? You normally won't see the purchase banner — every
paid plan includes full Records. The one time you will is if your plan has a monthly Record allowance and you've used it up; the banner then says so, and buying this one property is simply a way to keep going before your allowance resets. See Teams, seats & billing.
- Checking several homes in the same search? A subscription is usually the
better value once you're past two or three properties — see /pricing to compare plans.
Troubleshooting / Common questions
- "I paid, but the Record still looks locked." → Give the page a moment to
reload after Stripe returns you to CoverGuard; if it's still locked after a refresh, the payment may not have completed — check your email for a Stripe receipt, then contact support@coverguard.io with the property address.
- "Can I get a refund?" → Contact
support@coverguard.io. Once a refund is
processed, that property's Record reverts to the free view — the property details and the band, without the Record behind them.
- "I bought the wrong property's Record." → Purchases are per-property and
can't be transferred to a different address; contact support about a refund.
