About Us
Know before you bid
CoverGuard makes property insurability legible at the moment it still changes a decision — before an offer, not after a denial.
Why we built it
Rising climate risk, carrier pullbacks, and shifting regulation have made insurability one of the most important factors in a property transaction — and one of the least visible. A buyer can tour a house, read a disclosure packet, clear an inspection, and still not learn until weeks later that the property is expensive to insure, or that the carriers they assumed were available have stopped writing in that market entirely.
The data needed to answer that question is largely public. What did not exist was anything that pulled it together for a specific address, at the moment someone was deciding what to offer. That is the gap CoverGuard was built to close.
What we believe
Insurability is a transaction fact
Every year deals are delayed, renegotiated, or lost because an insurance problem surfaced after the offer. That information exists before the bid. We put it there.
We route. We do not bind.
CoverGuard sends quote requests to licensed insurance professionals and carriers. We are not an insurer, we do not bind coverage, and we do not pretend the distinction is a technicality.
Public data, shown honestly
We build on authoritative public sources — FEMA, USGS, Cal Fire, NOAA, the FBI. A CoverGuard Score is a modeled estimate, and we label it as one everywhere it appears rather than dressing a model up as a quote.
Two people, shipping
CoverGuard is a two-person company. We say so because it sets an honest expectation about how we work: directly, quickly, and with both founders reachable.
Who we are
CoverGuard is built and run by its two founders.

John Fredrickson
CEO & President
Licensed property & casualty producer
A product leader with over 10 years building B2B software for regulated, high-stakes industries — real estate transactions and foreclosure operations at Auction.com, mortgage origination at Cloudvirga, commercial real estate data and analytics at LightBox, and compliance SaaS for manufacturers at Ease.io. He came up through operations before owning a roadmap, and grounds product strategy in how work actually gets done rather than in feature lists. MBA in Finance, California State University, Fullerton.
